Bryan R. Martin is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of 8x8, Inc. A seasoned 8x8 executive with nearly two decades of service to the Company, Mr. Martin has served in a variety of corporate and engineering capacities including President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President, Engineering Operations. He has been a member of 8x8's Board of Directors since 2001 and has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2002.
Mr. Martin holds 35 United States Patents in the fields of semiconductors, computer architecture, video processing algorithms, videophones and communications. In November 2006, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Mr. Martin to the California Broadband Task Force for the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, where he currently serves as Chair of the task force's Emerging Technologies and New Applications Working Group. Mr. Martin was also named one of the "Top 100 Voices of IP Communications" by Internet Telephony magazine in October 2006.
In addition to his technical knowledge and expertise, Mr. Martin is well versed in industry and business affairs and has spoken before numerous trade, financial and regulatory organizations including the FCC, California Public Utilities Commission, California State Senate Energy, Utilities & Communications Committee, IEEE, National Emergency Number Association, Association of Police Communication Officials, TechNet, Supercomm, VON, United States Telecom Association and NGN. He is a member of the IEEE and Tau Beta Pi and received a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Dan Weirich
President and Chief Financial Officer
Dan Weirich is the President and Chief Financial Officer of 8x8 Inc. In his previous role with 8x8 as Vice President of Operations, Weirich managed the day to day business operations of 8x8 and Virtual Office services delivery as well as sales and billing operations. Prior to joining 8x8, Weirich served as a business development, finance and operations consultant in the United States and Asia, managing acquisition and restructuring initiatives for a number of IT and telecommunications firms. As Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Sales, Asia at iAsiaWorks, Inc., Weirich engineered a restart of the company and expanded its offerings to include Internet access, co-location and managed services across Asia and grew the company's operations to thirteen countries. Weirich also served as Manager in the Business Markets Group at Qwest Communications International, Inc. and as a Financial Analyst for Phoenix Networks, Inc.
Ramprakash Narayanaswamy
Chief Technology Officer
Ramprakash Narayanaswamy, Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for the company's entire research, development and engineering operations. As Vice President of Engineering at 8x8, he led the development and execution of the company's web-based CRM and billing systems along with the product management and engineering of 8x8 Virtual Office hosted IP-PBX service and feature enhancements, including the Virtual Office Pro unified communications suite of services. Narayanaswamy has over 20 years experience in the software industry and held previous positions as Enterprise Software Architect at Nextance Inc., Director, Tools Architecture and Development at Bluelight.com and Senior Software Engineer at Sun Microsystems Inc.
Prior to that, he held various software engineer positions with companies in the U.S. and India. Narayanaswamy's talent and expertise has been recognized numerous times throughout his career, including recipient of the "Best Engineer Award" at Sun Microsystems, "Engineering Masterpiece Award" at Bluelight.com and "Eagle Award" at Nextance Inc. He received his Masters degree in Computer Applications from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli, India.
Debbie Jo Severin
Chief Marketing Officer
Debbie Jo Severin, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Marketing, is responsible for 8x8's marketing strategies and operations, driving awareness and adoption of the company's business Internet protocol (IP) communications solutions through customer acquisition and retention initiatives including brand management, demand generation, direct and online marketing, advertising, promotions, marketing communications and public relations.
Severin brings over 20 years of marketing experience to 8x8 and was most recently Vice President of Marketing at Covad Communications, the first company to commercially deploy DSL technology in the United States. Severin managed Covad's national go-to-market plan for direct sales of the company's VoIP and data services and helped grow that business to more than $178 million of revenue at the end of 2007. Prior to Covad, Severin served as Vice President of Marketing at Valiant Networks and NorthPoint Communications, as Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Pacific Bell start-up PrimeOne Tele-TV, and as Executive Director of Marketing & Sales at Pacific Bell Video Services. She received a Masters Degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Huw Rees
Vice President of Business and Channel Development
Huw Rees serves as 8x8's Vice President of Business and Channel Development and was previously Chief Executive Officer of Centile, Inc., a former subsidiary of 8x8. Rees was responsible for the change in 8x8's marketing and sales away from an OEM approach to a focus on end-users including both consumers and small businesses. He has been closely involved with telecommunications technology for over 20 years, beginning with Marconi PLC in 1985, where he opened and managed their Western US sales office, growing sales from zero to over $8M in annual revenue in less than eighteen months. He has also held management roles with Plessey Inc., and with Mitel Corporation, where he was responsible for adding more than $20M in additional annual revenue for Mitel's communication products. Rees received a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MBA from the University of LaVerne.
Garth Judge
Vice President of Research & Development
Dr. Garth Judge joined 8x8 in 2000 as a Software Engineer for the company's Netergy Microelectronics subsidiary, in charge of the development of reference VoIP protocol stacks for Netergy's reference design platforms. Following that, Judge became Firmware Development Manager at 8x8, overseeing all software/firmware development for the 8x8 telephone terminal adaptors and the DV326 videophone. From there, he was promoted to the position of Director of Research & Development where, in addition to managing firmware development, he led the 8x8 Beta Network and Quality Assurance programs.
As Vice President of Research & Development, Judge assumes responsibility for the development of new features and expansion of all current 8x8 communication platforms, including the Virtual Office hosted PBX service, the company's flagship VoIP offering for small to medium-sized businesses.
Mehdi Salour
Vice President of Network Operations
Mehdi Salour is the Vice President of Network Operations. Salour most recently served as 8x8's Vice President of Service Delivery and Support where he played an instrumental role in developing the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) strategy while 8x8 was transitioning from an OEM technology company to a customer-centric service provider. Prior to that, Salour served 8x8 in various other positions including IT Network Engineer, Network Operations Engineer, Manager of Technical Support and Director of Technical Support.
As Vice President of Network Operations, Salour is responsible for production network operations and Quality Assurance programs. Salour also oversees 8x8's Network Operations Center (NOC) in Sunnyvale, California which monitors the company's voice and video networks on a 24x7 basis.
Salour holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Software Engineering with concentrations in networking software and security.
