Fast Start
The Fast Start Program is designed to provide newly hired employees with an in-depth understanding of 8x8's people, culture, and products. This is a two-day event held on-site at 8x8's Corporate Headquarters in San Jose. The program is set in an engaging team environment and features executive speakers, activities and networking opportunities and ends with dinner at our CEO’s house.
Why 8x8?
Our employees deserve the best and at 8x8 we strive to take care of our employee’s health and well-being in various ways. A weekly catered lunch that encourages employees to eat together, a gourmet coffee cart once a week, snacks on every floor and vending machines with healthy snacks are just some of the perks of working at 8x8.
A wellness room allows some private time to take a break and de-stress. We also offer monthly onsite massages, healthy cooking classes, onsite yoga, meditation and fitness classes. A mother’s room is provided, as well, to enable nursing mothers to have a private space to express milk for their newborns.
Summer Internship
The Summer Internship Program at 8x8 is designed to immerse students in meaningful projects that will help them develop real-life working skills within a corporate environment. We hope to equip all interns with lifelong skills such as networking, collaboration and professional integrity. In our unique work setting, students will hit the ground running and in turn, will learn how to be a resourceful self-starter in a fast-paced environment.
Santa Run
The “Santa Run Silicon Valley” is produced by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation (SVLGF) which represents more than 375 of Silicon Valley’s most respected employers on issues, programs and campaigns that affect the economic health and quality of life in Silicon Valley, including energy, transportation, education, housing, health care, tax policies, economic vitality and the environment. 8x8 is proud to sponsor the Santa Run and the Book Drive this year.
Women@8x8
“Technology is gender-neutral”
The gender gap continues to widen in the tech industry and 8x8 is taking initiatives for women in technology with an aim to close the gap. We celebrate International Women’s Day every year and we have a ‘Women @ 8x8’ group which, in support of diversity, welcomes both men and women to host and volunteer as speakers at events.
8x8’s ‘Women in Tech’ program is for women in all roles, not just engineering. The group is designed to promote conversation and talk about the challenges many women face in the workplace. We host a variety of events such as online webinars, workshops and speaker series. Areas of focus include leadership development, work-life integration, building a personal brand and more. Our goal is to provide all women at 8x8 with the tools, knowledge and support needed to flourish in a technical work setting.
WalktoberFest
In the month of October, 8x8 encourages employees company-wide to get out from behind their desks and take their meetings on-the-move. Employees are incentivized with weekly prizes to gain as many steps as they can during each workday and our encouraged to share their stories of how walking more is transforming their health.
Petrolheads: 8x8's car enthusiasts day
Every summer, 8x8 hosts an 8x8's car enthusiast day at our HQ. The event is open to all employees with any kind of car or motorcycle and they’re encouraged to share stories about their car, just put it on display, or come to enjoy the sights and stories of the other vehicles. All 8x8 employees have a chance to check out the cars, review the specs and interesting facts printed and displayed on the dashboard and talk to the owners about them, all while enjoying an outdoor BBQ. The highlight of the event is after lunch when the infamous announcement is made, "ladies and gentlemen, please start your engines", and employees get to hear the cars/bikes simultaneously revving their engines. The event is very well attended and some team members from the global offices even plan their visits to the HQ around the time of this event.
Team Building
In today’s high-pressure working environment, a connected, cohesive team is integral not only for business but for the members of the team. With that goal in mind, departments are encouraged to motivate employees with offsite events that build trust, unite team members, fine-tune communication and stimulate out-of-the-box thinking.
Diwali
Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is celebrated every year at 8x8 since Indians make up a large part of the tech workforce and Diwali is an integral part of the culture and celebrations.
